Re: 1800's salvation army badges and coins

Hello Shermanville,
Not sure of the exact date, but I do know that the badges would have to be prior to 1900. The site I detected on is very old, most people had left the small suburb late 1800's. But I wonder whee I may be able to look up this sort of relic. Any ideas anyone?
Angela :)

Try asking your local Salvation Army officer ,he or she may be able to help you.

I saw the pictures you posted on another forum. The small s with Blood and Fire on it is Salvation Army,it was sewn onto the lapels of the tunic, the large belt buckle may be.

The silver plated shield was superseded by the red enameled shield during WW1 because it was feared the silver shield would reflect light and endanger the doughnut girls, however I have seen the silver shield worn as recently as about 1980.

My eldest daughter is a Salvation Army officer, when I talk to her next time ,I ask about any books she may have showing S.A. memorabilia.
