1800's padlock and asst'd Junque

I stopped by the 1830's CW house yesterday, but didn't find too much. I had planned to MD close to the house, but they had a bunch of relatives over, and I didn't want to bother them. I hit an area that was a trash dump area. Glass pieces everywhere! I'm not sure if it was the trash or the cold (mid 30's) but my trusty Tesoro was overloading and sounded like cr-p off and on. :'(
Anyways, I dug junk except for this old mid-1800's padlock with chain. It has "A. Thompson - VR" stamped into the keyhole cover. Here's a bit of info on the company and a picture of what one of these locks should look like:

ABRAHAM THOMPSON, 28 TEMPLE BAR, WILLENHALL -
This firm was established in 1831 for the manufacture of all kinds of padlocks and night latches for home and export. Thompson seems to have sold his locks to the United States, as a number appear for sale there. From 1851 to 1861 they were located at 28 Temple Bar, Willenhall. They remained there until 1912 when they merged with Jonah Banks & Sons, padlock manufacturers, of Clothier Street, Willenhall.

That's all Folks.
Have a great week,
MM

The "VR" on your lock stands for "Victoria Regina" and helps to date your item.

Great. Thanks for that info Plehbah.
I was hoping it stood for "Very rare". ;D ;)

hey that brass plate with the cutouts in it was a clock. the dark image in the middle of the first photo looks like the main gear and winding spring. I found one very similar.

Thank you for that ID. I was wondering what that piece was. I have found broken sections before but this is the first full section.

Very cool looking lock Doug....I'm sure it's in the voltage bath already. What's the utensil handle made out of....pewter or lead?

Sure, she'd love it with a few long stemmed roses placed in the keyhole, and a few pieces of chocolate laid on top of it. ;D On second thought, maybe a pair of diamond studded earrings would be better. ::)

Nice old lock you've got there, Doug.

Dan,
You're probably right. I better not push it if I plan on making it another 25 years with my lovely wife. ;)
I wonder if BDoo has opened up his jewelry store yet? Hmmmm. ;D
Take care Buddy,

Civil,
That utensil handle was like no other I've ever found. It was a black color with what looked like a printed design down the center.
The lock cleaned up a lot better than the cr-ppy pictures I have posted. I'll try to get some more posted soon. This is the biggest lock I've found so far, and it was a complete one with no broken metal fortunately. Not worth anything, but they make great display pieces.

I have found several of those utensil handles(all broken just like yours)with the same desighn.I was thinking they were pewter??They have all been in 1849 period sites.
