I believe that is from an 1800's door hinge or at the least a piece to a door latch from the same period! I have seen them before intact but just can't remember where and what on.

Looks like some kind of strap loop off a carriage or wagon or even an early automobile.

That's what I was thinking it was off a cart or something. Oh we'll I guess I'll put in scrap pile.

It looks to me like a hanger from the back of a large picture or mirror frame. Modern ones look pretty much the same. Of course, that would make it one of a pair.
