Certain early garden hose nozzles had the same design.? Compare to the ones with "Fairy" or "Magic" in their name/description on the following links page:

Your other find looks like a clock pendulum adjustment? weight.? Compare to item #2 on this page:

Best of luck,
Buckram

thank you for the posts

in response to the garden nozzle ,I have seen that page ,but still believe it to be fire or combonation nozzle

http://bchs.kearney.net/Firecave.html
and also this
http://www.centurytel.net/robinsnest/nozzles/nozfaq.htm

as for the pendulum weight ,well so far I havent seen any explanation that resembles it any closer than that
thanks again
and yes the nozzle is brass ,the handle portion unfourtunatley is broken off and looks to have been that way for sometime

Re: 1800's FIRE NOZZLE

Yosemite, you might try http://www.osfa.info/ and e=mail them with a photo. They are pretty good about I.D. old fire equip. and approx year. Too you might look and see if there's any name on the nozzle or patent #. HH

WOW!

I bet that hose nozzle signaled loud enough to make your ears bleed!!!!!!!! :D :D

Seriously, that nozzle is super cool! If your going to clean it, be careful! That thing looks pretty old to me!

Sorry I can't help out on helping to ID it.

Nice work!

Re: 1800's FIRE NOZZLE

In actual reality, the nozzle looks like was used on a water cannon or monitor. One's like that were possibly used during hydraulic mining or to put a thin, narrow stream of water at a distance.
