Found this today in West Virginia on an old farm. She was about 8" deep I'd say. I found a token of some sort as well that I will post in the 'What Is It?' section.

Sorry, the pic is not the best.

Questions... since I have rinsed and cleaned it a little, will it begin to deteriorate now? And is there a safe way of keeping it in its current condition? I've seen in here that some recommended Verdi-Safe or something to that effect. Would it be okay to find and use this on a coin of this nature? I ask because since it's had the dirt removed and rinsed, I've seen a few little specs of green showing up and I know corrosion is the killer of copper coins, is it not? This is my first one and now wishing I had just simply brushed the dirt off and gone no further.

Recommendations? Thinking of running out and getting a couple of air-tites for it.

Great find! One year earlier and it's worth a fortune.

Nice find. I think it will be fine as is.

Nice LC for sure!!! I'm no expert but the 2 I have found were in very bad shape. After some cleaning they remained the same. I believe dry and chemical free is the safe bet.

Believe it or not, and I've looked this up since they told me, the coin shop said a light rubbing with WD-40... that's right WD-40 would help it out a lot. Both guys mentioned it at the shop I stopped by to see about holders for the coin. I had to look it up myself after hearing it but it looks like a lot of people do this with old coins. This is staying in my personal collection and not selling at least right now, so I may dab a little on the greenish spots to see if it helps. Still undecided. It does need just little more cleaning. Still some crud on it. Nervous now though.

Great find for sure.looked great to me I probably would of just let it be.way to go
