Short backstory, my family property has been a farm since the early 1800s and for the past few years I thought it was strange because I never found any coins from before the 1960's, although I recently did find a bullet ball button, but today I think that may have changed! I think I have found a half cent minted from 1800-1808. the coin is really toasted with no hint of a date and you can barely make out the bust. I believe its from that time period due to the "drape" you can see around her shoulders. if anybody can confirm my hypothesis that would be great! also, is there anyway to clean this up without losing the detail? or a way to get more detail out of it?

Def a nice one to check off the list!!! CONGRATZ.....

Congrats on the 1/2 cent, great find! :occasion14:

Don't clean it. Especially with liquids. I resort to toothpicks only for a little crust or the Andre's pencils which work great.

hi ! That is lovely. I believe you are right on the money <lol pun>. You are blessed to have found . Don't you wish you could shake the hand of who lost it ! :) ?

For sure a nice save. If you look close at the 4th pic you can see a "7" under the bust. So safe to say its an 1807. And I agree with others dont clean it looks good the way it is.

Nothing you do will improve the condition of that coin. If you pick it, you will probably lose the 7 in the date. I'd soak it in acetone, use a soft toothbrush to remove any loose dirt, and then leave it alone.
