Patience is a must in the art of treasure hunting. It took 18 years of hard work and a lot of time spent in research just to get close. I have great expectations for this site,I have not been back there in 15 years do to my brother in law passing on and finding a bigger and better site.(closer to home)Lets get on with the story.

In the early morning we started a vigorous hike expecting nothing at all like we found. It changed the way we looked at things. It also started us on a new hobby. We found writing on a rock. Great,we found out latter in the day it faded out do to the sun shinning on it. The writing can only be seen in the early morning or at dusk. I will not be able to show you a pic of this rock.Every one told us the writing was done by Indians. I went to my all knowing uncle, well in my eyes any way.He had been prospecting most of his life he should know something.

His advise the Spanish were great miners, just look for holes in the ground. I think a lot of people think that way. I We went up there again and again, something did not seam right. I went to work on identifying the symbols on the rock. After many years I finely found out some of the symbols were measurement signs. All right, down the miss leading trails we will go. Having fun but going nowhere and till Charles Kenworthy came out with his book in 1991,1993.What a brake through with some knowledge about sun and shadow symbols. We took more pic and what a surprise things came together. The man on the ridge matches the one on the rock, but the measurement symbols did not match up and till we found the man on the mountain. My brother inlaw past away shortly after that. My hart was not in it.So years later I went back up one more time. I tried to get to the man on the mountain. I could not get to him from the top of the mountain,so I tried to get to him from below. The cliffs were to steep,it was a no go being by my self.(more pics)

As you can see the mountain is the same in both pics the cross(stick man) only shows up at a certain time of day and year. Like I said, it matches the map rock. I found this site in my infancy of treasure hunting. I told the story in that manner. My point was to show that you can read one sign and you have to wait to read another. I was just something I wanted to share and to show some large shadow symbols.

And yes I believe they are man made. Seeing is believing not just at this site but at others. I'm not that skilled in interpreting Spanish symbols but I'm retraining myself due to Naysayers and wrong info buffs.

Enjoy the pics!

Lanny...Thank you for sharing your pictures...I totally agree with you seeing is believing! It is especially cool when you find a map with symbols...and then find the symbols that were represented on the map...Steve

Thanks lanny for sharing. That is a magnificent example and have never seen anything like that before.

I wonder why they would make such a big carving..with that symbol on it. I look with deep suspicion at any too obvious sign..unless the area was under long control and even then..hmmmm

Did you notice the lovely owl in the first picture? The mountain shadow carving would be on its left side... in later pictures it looks like some generic bumps. lots of stuff to the right of the owl too.

I'd venture a guess a camping site was down left trail. To the right... well adventure!

Thanks again

DM,
My guess is that it could be ancient instead of Spanish. The ancients used very large S/S because they were the only ones here and not trying to deceive anyone.
okey dokey
