1798 house permission, square nail ID?

Hello, I am the 13 year old kid that Metal detects at my grandparents civil war house. Also really close to where I live is a house from a revolutionary war veteran made in 1798. I've metal detected there last weak and have found a railroad spike. This time I had way way more time there. I found a 1960's kids cap gun. Not from colonial era but still a interesting find. I also found a washer type thing and a square nail that looks to be from colonial times. Thanks! The nail is also about 2 inches in length
 

Can you post close-up pictures of the nail now that some of the rust has been removed? From the last picture it looks like a cut nail, which would date it to the 1800s but it's hard to tell for sure.
