Hi guys-
This is kind of a takeoff of Ocean 7's post, but you guys on the East Coast should have it made when it comes to Colonial period coins...although a coin like the one I've posted gives me hope of finding a few of my own.? ?
As Ocean 7 said, don't pass up those farm fields, it's about the only place I hunt anymore.....constantly looking for new sites where farms once existed.?
Who knows why the settlers held on to these(I have another Cartwheel just like it), but I'm estimating the farm where it was found was there during the 1850's and 1860's.? As Ocean 7 said, it's rare to find colonial coins at non colonial period sites, but there's always a chance.? (I did find a 1827 LC at this site too.)? ?I'm still looking for the draped!
Get permission.....look for debris(I like using a 4-wheeler).....start detecting.?
