Yard sales were awful this weekend so I hit an estate sale shop and as I walked in was a bin of silver plate. I reached in and saw the saucers and immediately new they were Georgian silver so I asked a price and got the whole bin for $30. In the car I could see the British Sterling hallmarks on the bottom which dates these to 1795 by Henry Chawmer of London. They weigh a total of 29.5 OZT. It appears they tarnished to almost a brass color which I think made he company think they were plated. I polished them up and they came out beautiful. I found an almost identical match online for sale in England for over 2850 British Pounds which corresponds to US$3500. I also picked up three pieces of Sterling cutlery also.

Fantastic find!

Note that it's Henry CHAWNER, not CHAWMER.

Wow! I just noticed this. 18c. sterling is as good as it gets.
