This fella was a bucket list item I didn't even know existed until Mother Google told me what I'd found... IMG_1652.JPGIMG_1653.JPG

I would have thought it to be modern....but it certainly got my attention as I googled it. Could be a real winner. What does the edge/rim look like?

I've never seen one nor knew they existed. How rare are they? Nice dig :icon_thumleft:

I will say it looks modern to me.Usually something that old will have a square nail hole but i could be wrong.Interesting find.

Very Nice & Cool Find!!! Congrats!!!

It's in my Red Book. Post Colonial issue. 1795, undated, Liberty and Security penny. ASYLUM edge. Also, some with corded outer rim. F= $275. AU=$1150. Nice find, even with the hole. Gary

Pretty sweet find I dont have room for anymore empty buckets lol Great find

I did a Google search and it seems these are quite rare and highly desirable. Nice find, you should get it authenticated.

Thanks for the comments folks. Any idea how to get it authenticated?

Pcgs, ngc. Pick out a few coins to send in with the Washington. Thats if you sign up for a membership. Or if you have a coin shop you trust, you can have them send it in with their next batch for about $15

I won't pretend to know what it is but when I saw your post title I knew it was going to be good! It's pretty amazing that a coin would be gilt if that's what it is. It also looks like it's in pretty amazing condition for being in the ground. Excellent and rare find!

Congrats on the very nice find! :occasion14:
