Have been hitting an old colonial field with super sandy soil the last few trips and the finds havn't been a ton but they are quality. A george I farthing popped up as well as a Charles or William on the last trip as well as a liberty cap half cent by my brother. A good amount of buttons, some soild cast have also been found. This was the last target of the day and a real treat. Big thick american copper! You can see the die crack across the "7" that indicates S-44. The farmer was cut harrowing it to seed it so the days are numbered there. Hopefully 1 more trip is possible.

..: NICE Liberty :..

That's in incredible condition! That one I would even consider having conserved by a pro. That thing could be worth some serious cash! WTG!

I'm pretty sure I've never seen one with so much intact detail of the hair , if you were to have that "conserved" by PCGS (for example) I wonder if they could get down through the encrusted parts ?

Congrats on an extremely nice old coin. Wow and wow!

What a treat to see a Liberty cap in that condition. You just gotta love that sandy south Jersey soil.

Thanks fellas. I was unaware that grading services cleaned your coins. It would be worth some serious cash if it wasnt ground found and in AU condition.

WOW JIM! Awesome!Gotta go banner here! Congrats.......Hogge

a really nice coin, that lettering on the edge is amazing to have survived this long. and I am just hoping to find a Barber LOL. congrats on the awesome find

Wow! That's a lot of detail for a very early copper. The lettering of the edge of the coin puts it in a class by itself. Fall will be here before you know it, and you can get back in that field and follow-up with a Chain Cent!:headbang:

Amazing condition for a dug coin!!! Congrats and HH

Jim that's an incredible addition to your collection! The edge lettering is fantastic. Congrats buddy. I can't seem to get any earlier than 1797 with my LCs. I have a stack of those lol.
