Had about two hours to go out detecting this afternoon, so I went to a new field that had just been cut. Hardly walked into it when I got a great signal and dug another perfect shoe buckle. This one is probably about 1775 or so. Went a few more feet and got another signal and dug a large copper. Couldn't read it till I got home...1794 Liberty cap. Can actually read the date. The back is pretty trashed, but it made my day for sure. Also found a nice large musket ball (about 62 cal), part of a pewter spoon, part of a crotal bell, and what appears to be a sharpening stone, although it reads as metal. Thanks for looking...Lance

Great finds Lance. :o  If you're going to find a large cent it may as well be a 1794. It doesn't get much better than that. Just about every crotal bell I find is broken like that. I have yet to recover an intact one.

Nice Copper! 8)

That metal stone thing is interesting. Did you clean it off and was it rusted?

No I didn't clean it, and it was not rusted. VDI is low about 10, and it is not magnetic. It obviously was shapped though. Possibly native american??? Any ideas...Lance

Wow!! You've covered a lot of history with those great finds . . . that buckle is just wonderful!

Well, you have gone and done it again!!! Congratulations!!! I Don't know which I like more the buckle or the Copper. I think if the copper were one year older I wouldn't have a problem making up my mind. Great day go back tomorrow and call me when you get home, BRO!

Nice job on the large cent, and great shoe buckle! I love Vermont, going to the small towns there is like stepping back in time, and still lots of wilderness to enjoy.

That 1794 coppa is sweeeeeeeeeeeet, Lance! My uncle found a 1794 large cent and half cent at one of our sites before! That site yielded us 3 Liberty Cap coppas overall!
