keep looking you may just find the holy grail

Thanks for the encouragement. Been thinking money for the detector would have been better spent on a long weekend in Charleston, SC!!!

This is not an easy site to search but could be really good. You need to slow down and pay attention to the fainter signals. Well worth your time to give it another whirl. Good luck. Let us know how you do.

Patience. It isn't as easy as it appears on TV. You might need to hunt that site a bunch of times before you can say it doesn't have anything. Or you could find something great there next time out.

Don't give up, good things to come!

Did you search the sourounding area of the 22 acres, that sounds like the best spot, not directly were the house stood.

Where the demolition took place, yes there will be a lot of trash but that ground is Old so there will be good finds there somewhere. You may even need to rake the ground to pull the trash pieces off. Are you using earphones, they really help to hear the quiet tones. Also there should be an outhouse, a trash pile, a barn, a root cellar and check along any old fence lines as they could have been used for a bank. You have a good area just understand that this hobby does not always pay off right away and I'm not talking about making a bunch of money just finding something interesting/historical although caches are a reality.

Do you know any of the history of the property? What was it used for and What type of folks lived there? These will all be clues to help in your search, maybe even old newspaper articles about the place......63bkpkr

Sounds like an awesome spot to me, just keep it up and you'll find great things.

This is good advice.

You said that you looked the gully where he pushed the house and cabin,
Have you looked the ground where the house and cabin sat? Go low and slow
and multiple directions, If it's that old of a place then trust us....There's stuff
there. This hobby just takes time.....DO NOT!!!! get discouraged, you have
the rest of your life to find the treasure.....Half the fun is the Hunt............HH

Haven't searched out in the fields...but will.

Yep...know the history. It was my originally the home of my 4th great grandfather. It's been continually occupied and farmed from about 1790 to 1970. Unfortunately, the area where the barn was was sold years ago.

Do you think there is chance the site has been detected in the past? If you know it has not been detected then the finds will are certainly there, just waiting for you to uncover them. After two hundred years, pieces of history will definitely be there in the ground. It will take some diligence to remove the top layers of modern trash (those strong signals), but you will then be rewarded with the opportunity to locate the deeper signals that we all love to hear. I have been at some sites 3 or 4 times before finding anything exciting. Good luck!

Site has the age. Hunted enough will tell average depth per age with exceptions here and there.
Dozer may have made oldest relics reachable depending how much was removed,i have had finds though scratched from pushing in low spots and where moved earth layer ended where ground dropped at end of leveled area. One good find could make up for many hours searching your site!.
