I have information regarding where an encampment of 4,600 men of the continental army in 1788 had camped for a couple months and went to try and find it.

I have a topo map showing the relative area.
I thought it would be easy to pinpoint if I just hiked in there........I was wrong...!
It's only a square mile!!!!!!!!!

I know a couple of people have been in there and know where it is, but no one likes to say anything.
It almost seems totally desolate where I was testing the area.
Did find a horseshoe and some old iron chunks of something.
As well as a nice clean intact Schlitz beer bottle.
I was told there were some cannon balls retrieved as well as shoe buckles.
If anyone else in CT knows where I am talking about, primarily Bridgwater/second hill wants to comment, I would thank them to no end.

Solaryellow, you said you have a topo, try google and go to their arial search you might be able to pick up something from the air views. Good luck and HH

Thanks,.

yes I did that first.

The mountain is bounded by houses pretty much all the way around it.

But there are some access points into it, which I did manage to find.

I saw some clear cutting in a small area and headed their first, pretty wooded everywhere else.
But they are all smaller diameter trees which weren't their in 1788.
It's a matter of me getting in there and hitting a few spots to see what type of junk shows up and where.
I didn't even really hit any junk, which means not too many people have stepped foot into these woods, let alone saw any action for any other purpose.
It was farmland by the towns early settlers, so still promising in that fact too.
And still very much a crap shoot.
I was finding barbed wire along the stonewalls though.
So it does indicate to me it was a farm at one point.
