Well Congrats to your huntin bud Doug !!

Looked it up in the red book and looks like the "INDI ET LIB" 1787 variety !! To bad it is'nt the backwards "C"

BEAUTIFUL Coin !!! :o

:tongue1:

Tell your friend the coin appears to be a 1788 Ryder 16 Variety. Very Common. I am not 100%(99.9%) :) certain but I know it is not a 1787 variety of any type.

Tell him also nice find, don't see enough of the Vermont Colonials being found and posted. My son and I each have found 2, total of 4 and 3 of the 4 came from the same field here in South Jersey and one of them was a Rare 1785 Vermont Immune Columbia copper.

Any idea what depth he found the coin? Great find!

There we go. Nice find by your friend. I found one last year but that one is in far better condition than the one I found. Its great to see another Vermont copper being posted. I feel ya on not sharing your sites :tongue3: You're happy your buddy found something but a little down that it wasnt you that found it. Here's a pic of the one I found. Pretty beat up!!
