Was so nice to get out and dig. I started out on the South Jersey Shore and spent a few hours there. The only thing dug there was the 2 1947 nickles. On the way home I stopped at my favorite colonial era ghost towns. Dug the Jersey copper in just a few min of getting there. The buttons followed shorty there after. Welcome back Spring! Thanks for looking.

Way to go Tony, appreciate the info on your NJ copper, it is a 1787 Maris 34-J variety, love the condition of coppers from my home county! Very nice shape. This is the one variety where the horse looks more like a Deer! :) Rarity 3, Scarce. It is the 7th one reported found to me in my survey, out of over 700 coins. 1787 New Jersey Copper - Maris 34-J Disregard coinfacts rarity of Common, current rating is Rarity 3 which is Scarce. I forgot to add, that the M.34-J was struck over a variety of other coppers, but yours appears to have been struck on a blank planchet, but would not hurt to look hard with a magnifier to see if you see any evidence of other letters/design. One study showed 10 out of 27 of them were struck over other coppers..... Don

Inspiring post. Great looking NJ copper, and BTW thanks for the reminder that spring is on the way.
