1785. Spanish 8 regales silver

Sorry for wrong posting for 8 reale

Your coins (at least the one with the obverse shown) are dated 1783. They are from the El Cazador which sank in 1784. The majority of her treasure were coins minted in 1783. We will need to see pictures of both sides of each coin to determine value. Here is more information on the El Cazador: El Cazador - Shipwreck Treasure

By the way, this post might receive more attention in the Coins sub-forum rather the CRH'ing sub-forum.

Once your coins are grade certified by a professional grading service, their retail value will be easier to define. Meanwhile, you may wish to watch the bidding action on currently listed similar coins on Ebay-here: el cazador shipwreck coin | eBay

Any chance on getting photos of the front and back of each? We can then give you a better idea on value. I've handled hundreds of Cazador coins as I conserve them for sale at various locations around St. Augustine including The Pirate Museum owned by Pat Croce.

I evaluated a friend's collection a few months ago and they had this same item, along with a promo flyer saying it was a "replica".

A very large majority of these are replica coins. My guts says yours are likely fakes too. Have them checked out by someone in person to be sure.

Update on 8 reales....

Got my 2 coins and me thinks they are fakes because....
Weight 20 grams and 23 grams...
Both ring differently...
Edges are very thin...

This is the one I purchased at Mel's in Key West. I think you can see some subtle differences..
