So, the attached pictures represent last weekends VERY cold detecting efforts. It was in the high 20's when I was out there, but the ground was soaking wet thanks to a ton of rain fall. I visited 3 different site, the first a small local park where I found the door hardware, the 2nd was a large park in a big city, nothing too interesting other than 4 or so wheat pennies. I had the most success visiting a farm field on my way home from the city park. Spent an hour until I found the hot spot. Started off with a ball or cherry button, that for some reason did not make it into the pictures. Started gridding back and forth in the area I found the button, got a sweet 12-47 signal on the eTrac and out popped what I believe is a 1785 CT Copper, the F4 variety. What do you all think? Lots of pictures, I may have to post more in a 2nd post. Thanks for looking and let met know what you think:
My questions:
Is it a 1785 CT Copper variety F4?
Has anyone ever seen a flat button like the penny sized one in the picture. I have never seen one that seemed stamped with a raised image like that, to the point where the back is raised. No makers mark on the back, so perhaps home grown in the US. Any idea as to the date, I'm assuming 1700's, but would love to dial the date in a bit.
The St George Bridge Studio pin, I could not find anything googling around, anyone know anything about it? Thought it was cool it had all 4 card suits on it.
