1780 Spanish Silver 1/2 Reale

I found this 1/2 Reale last Sunday. My second I've found. I found one last December but not in this nice of condition. The soil was perfect as you can see from the pic. It was about 6-8" deep. It's only the 3rd spanish silver I've found. The other was a 1664 cob. Thanks for looking.

Very nice looking 1/2 Reale. My first & only was an 1820 nearly worn, but I was still able to see some design & get the date. Yours is in great shape.

Looks like 1781 versus 1780.
No matter, still contains 0.903 fine silver; Mexico City mint.

That's actually a very cool date as it signifies the end of the Rev War and the beginning of our new nation. Nice going!

The battle of Rhode Island took place in 1781. One of my favorite detecting areas. It was also the same year that Rochambeau marched from Providence to Yorktown.

Excellent condition on that beauty. I've found two half reals, and I get a full date off either one. Your coin must not have been circulated long before it was lost.
