1776 button\medallion

I dug this button\medallion on 7/18/2009. It has the date 1776 with a minuteman in the middle. It is 1.75
inches in diameter, and appears to be made from bronze or copper. I have been trying to find out if it is possible something military or if it is even authentic. If it is from that period, it would be my best find ever.

Highly doubt it dates anywhere close to that. Can you post a picture of the back.

agreed, looks some sort of cheap pot metal or lead-alloy mix
 

That is an interesting piece. Perhaps a little background on where it was found, Depth, and A clear photo of the back would help identify this a little better. And Welcome to the site!! :thumbsup:
