1776 button\medallion

I dug this button\medallion on 7/18/2009. It has the date 1776 with a minuteman in the middle. It is 1.75
inches in diameter, and appears to be made from bronze or copper. I have been trying to find out if it is possible something military or if it is even authentic. If it is from that period, it would be my best find ever.

agreed, looks some sort of cheap pot metal or lead-alloy mix

That's an interesting find It looks a little like this silver medallion and yours may share the same background
