They did make a silver- clad Bicentennial should have an s mint mark. Some clad also have the same mint mark. Use your detector to see if its silver. If its clad it will be made of copper-nickel. Hope this helps and i hope its silver.

there is no mint mark on it. in the book it said it should be an "S". i seen where they made Silver clad Bicentennial.

Check to see if the edge has a faint darker band. I have seen many quarters that were slightly corroded, which turns the copper a dark, dull grey color, blending in with the rest of the cupro-nickel. So what you possibly have is a oxidized bicentennial quarter. Is the coin very shiny, or is it dull looking? Nothing special (without the "S" mintmark), but without seeing it, I could be wrong! :dontknow:

it is very shinny. nothing faded on it any where. what gets me is that it doesn't have the mint mark if it is a silver clad.
