Hi All! Used Mixed Mode tonight in a field across the street from my house that I've detected many times. Hit this beauty at about a foot deep :o...it's a 1750 George 2nd Copper with so much detail....Still can't believe it!! :)

This is my best condition dug copper...pretty sweet for being 257 years old...you just never know! :)

Thanks for looking and HH,

Hi,

This might take the conversation afield a bit, but how in the world did you get the XLT to hit on something 12 inches deep? I never get anywhere near that. Any advice, or maybe a program or hint?

Thanks,

Mike

That is one special coin.

Excellent find!

Thanks Everyone! She's definitely in great shape compared to all the others I've dug....

Mike...A friend told me about the Mixed Mode (dual frequency) setting on the XLT last Fall...so I spent the winter trying it out...it's noisy, so it takes some getting used to...but if the volume isn't blaring in your phones it's not that bad. I dig all the high tones....and when you get in a field situation where there aren't many targets, you can boost the sensitivity levels a bit.

If it's too erratic, bring the sensitivity levels down a bit to smooth it out... ;)

It gives you better coverage and more depth...I found this coin in a spot that Relic Mode missed.... ::)

Basic Adjustments and arrow down to Mixed Mode, press Enter to enable...ground balance and go. :)

If you are next to a house you can use it with very slow swing speeds to 'cherry pick' the area....it's amazing! ;)

Best of Luck!
