Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
The first time that I detected this small front yard (approximately 30' x 40' grassy area) I found 25 wheat pennies and 50+ modern clad coins, but NOT one single silver coin, so I didn't post pictures of my finds that day. I knew that there just had to be silver in that front yard with that many wheat pennies being found.

Today I went backed armed with my trusty MXT-Pro with a 6" x 8" search coil attached. Right off I got a quarter reading and popped a sterling silver locket that's 12k gold plated. Not long after that I found a 1961 Rosie dime and ended up finding 27 MORE wheat pennies. Along the edge of the driveway, I got my search coil over a 1945 Mercury dime. I went back over the curb strip and got a signal that I thought was going to be yet another wheat penny, but it turned out to be a really thin 1920 Mercury dime.

In two hunts that small front yard produced 175+ coins including a sterling locket, a Rosie dime, 2 Mercury dimes, and 52 wheat pennies. Being tired and worn out, I headed for the house after a short hunt. I might go back.

Thanks! I'm going back with one of 'beep and dig' detectors to get what's left. Maybe a gold ring.

Thanks! Sometimes you just have to roll up shelves and have at it. I like challenges.

Last time I dug 175 holes, I was planting potatoes for Grandma. lol
That’s an awesome hunt!

I guarantee there's more there to be found. Grats on a nice spot to work! Grats on all the keepers that you have and will have and thanks for sharing.

How's the back and legs? Man that's A LOT of holes!

I once hunted a yard similar to yours. It was like the occupants had a penny fight in the backyard. I must have dug a hundred or more. It was a 1890s house. When I got modern coins out of the way, I got a few older silvers and an Indian head from 1899. Keep at it!

I usually run my MXT with no discrimination, that should let you dig it all and I pretty much trust the solid bars no matter what tone says when digging all good targets. Great finds and HH.

Hmmm...

"I might go back...."

Let me Kindly interject this thought..

GO BACK!!!

(and post what happens!)

Thanks! Keep in mind that was 2 hunts and didn't count the trash targets. What you're seeing today is just from one hunt.

Thanks! It's been a while since seen that many coins in one yard.

Thanks! That's the reason that I'm going back. I'm going to get all the rest with my Tesoro. It's loaded up and ready for action.

I was sore before I started. That's why I cut the hunt short where I would be able to go back and get the rest.

If I feel good tomorrow, I'll get the rest.

Great spot you have there. Great hunt!
Thanks! I'm hoping for a gold ring.

Thanks! Good info, I'm going to remember that. There's a good reason that the MXT is so popular and well-liked.
