Sweet copper. I found two toasted large cents in a grass strip adjacent to a newer Home Depot. I totally would have assumed those coins would have been lost to construction but you never can tell unless you try!

nice to find those unexpected sites.
hope you get some more there.
Thanks Dwayne, went back and got broken pieces of a buckle and a lead shot for a pistol. I'm guessing the area was hit hard but this one area was overlooked. Whoever hit it first must have had a field day, the site is right next to an old mill with farms and colonial homes right across the street.

Thanks again everyone, I didn't find much else in the immediate area I worked however there's a few more spots to check out but unfortunately I'm snowed in at the moment. ::)

Nice old copper!
I've heard a few times while hunting, 'that place was filled in'
well, where'd the fill come from? :D
asked some workers who were enlarging a foundation at a very historic site, where they brought the fill, 'Wherever we need it' HH to ya!

nice coin ...congrats !

Thanks Steel! I actually found this coin and the Liard in the original soil in a very small patch of woods right next to where a service road and athletic field where put in. However I know what you mean about fill, it all depends where it came from and sometimes there's only one way to find out!

Thanks everyone, best of luck out there!
