I got this coin from a local dealer who said it was found with a bunch of others in some type of cache or hoard in europe. I got quite a few interesting coins from him but no others like this. It is roughly the diameter of a U.S. dime but about half as thick. The obverse reads "BRETLVNDVXSRIATHETEL" around the edge with a guy standing next to a tree in the center and the number 2 next to him. The reverse reads "1737 GEORGIIDGMBRFRETHREXFD" around the edge and " II MARIEN GROSCH FEINSILB I A B" in the middle. I'd really like to know some info on this coin!! I've tried almost everything and haven't been able to ID this one. Thanks for your help!

Andy.

It appears to be a 2 mariengroschen of Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg-Hanover in north central Germany, struck during the reign of George II August (George II of England). The 1737 variety lists for $12-20 in Fine to Very Fine condition.
