I found these buckles while searching for treasure at a sight that was probably a survivor/salvage camp for the survivors of the 1733 galleon fleet disaster. I have never seen anything like them. I think they were part of a horse bridle being sent back to spain from the new world. Likely for someone important as many of the other parts of this bridle are very ornate. These include bit bosses, strap keepers, and conchos. I will post pics. of these artifacts soon.

Just dug shots. Havent even rinsed them yet.

Probably from cargo straps. Need something in the pix to help us see the size. Very similar to one about 1/2 way down the page.

Sorry, wrong link.

Thanks for that capt esteban. Perhaps they are straps from luggage or clothing.
In a couple of the photos I can see what appears to be the imprint of a fabric or cloth weave pattern. It is visable on the rusty catch pin of one of the buckles. It was written that much luggage washed overboard and was scattered on shore here. Heres a couple more pics. That shows there size compared to my hand.

I looked in the buckle id section in the buckle sub forum, but still dont see any quite like these. This buckle id guide is a great source for anyone trying to date and identify buckles.

I pasted the wrong link above. This is the one I meant to paste. Look at buckle on the far right, 1/2 way down the page,,,, very similar. Is yours bronze, brass ??

That one does look similar and is definitely the closest match ive seen. I actually have been to that sight before and scrolled right past that example. Thanks for all the help captesteban. Ill post up some other buckles soon.
