I found this on a 1715 shipwreck beach. I am not sure what kind of rock this is. It is slightly magnetic - seems that the rock itself is not magnetic but the veins in it are. It set off my metal detector and I have no idea what kind of rock it may be. Any help identifying it would be appreciated.

It maybe slagg that was used as ballast weight. If it is there should be more. Great find.

it definitely seems to be a stone that is out of place on a Florida beach and based on the fact that I found it not far from the piece of the pewter plate (or whatever it was) led me to believe it was worth holding on to. Not to mention the fact that it sets off my pinpointer which the iron scraps I find normally do not. This is the piece I found, in comparison to a pewter plate at the 1715 Survivors museum.
