1715 Fleet Visit
I decided since recently getting back into some metal detecting to take a ride over to the Treasure Coast today. Its Tuesday the 28th. I figured I would give a rundown of what I have seen so others can take it into account when visiting there.
The Grape Street beach entrance is locked up and closed
The Turtle Trail beach entrance is also locked up and closed. I assume they are rebuilding the beach there as it appears that much of the original sand has disappeared due to the hurricanes last year. It also seems that if you wish to get to one of these beaches you have to walk over quite a distance from one of the others. The beach coast seems to be loaded with clubs and hotels, one after another, making a simple direct access to the beaches not easy.
Ambersand entrance has newly planted dunes just over the beach crossover. I did not metal detect today but just surveyed about 7 of the beaches to make a decision as to which to hunt for the next two days. There sure is alot of area to cover. One could walk about 15 miles of beach from what Ive seen so far.
I visited the area of the Steakhouse up near Sebastian but I cant seem to locate it. I figure it may no longer be there as I seem to be looking at an old reference book. Does the Steakhouse still exist? If anyone could help me on this I would appreciate it. Im wondering if its been replaced by a breakfast place this is now in Sebasian park right over the bridge or have I just missed it, by accidently driving by it?
Wednesday if it doesnt pour all day, Im going to hit the beach at the Ambersand, Cabins Wreck and see if anything comes up. Im just looking to nail maybe just one Cob after 30 years. It would make my day.
After hunting tomorrow, Ill give a rundown. Ill be visiting the colored wrecksite tomorrow too, so I will give a rundown of conditions there as well. Im trying to figure which beach would be the best bet for just one cob. Anyway, I will write about the beach conditions as I see them.
Good collecting, Stillhunting
