I found this coin while looking for arrowheads along the shores of a large waterway. I know very little about coins, but I would guess that this one could be french and I do know this waterway was used by the french, british and indians. I know if it was american it would be highly collectable, but being from overseas its probably not... *L.XIIII.D.G+FR.ET.FA.REX 1704 DOMINE.SALVVM FAC?EGEM..good condition for age, very thin, I think all letters are readable with a magnafing glass which I dont own so a couple letters may be incorrect. Does anyone have any info on this coin?

Looks like a French 5 sols. The 10 sols is very similar. What's the size? Anyway, do a search on "Louis XIV 5 sols" and "Louis XIV 10 sols," and you should be able to find a current value for it. Most are around $10-15, G-VG.

Wow! You should post that in Todays Finds, or did you? A metal detectorist would love to find a coin of that age and you did it without a machine!
Very nice!
