1700's token "UPDATED MARKS"

It seems after a little cleaning, the marks are M's on the top and bottom. I would like to know what this is. Could the "M" represent a roman numeral?

Symbol Value
I 1
V 5
X 10
L 50
C 100
D 500
M 1,000

I have seen these marks before, but I can't place it. Dug at a late 1700's house site in NC. Disk looks to be copper. Nothing on the back. The marks: TT are present on both ends of the the square hole.

thanks~

I don't thinks so Carl, but you may be on to something. The disk is too small to be a large copper, but could be a smaller worn copper fashioned into a love token. :dontknow:

a counterstamped token most likely, the T.T doesn't ring any bells, but then again there's so many
