It was a nasty 30 degrees out today, but I just had to go detecting. Went to an old spot in the woods and it paid off with a couple of finds that are 130 years apart!

My first find was a 1700's dandy button with a cool design on the front. Hit the back with my digger, but at least the shank is still intact. What makes it special is the fact that it's a perfect match to a button I found at the same spot two months ago. Only the second time I've found flat buttons with a matching design.

My second find was a 1904 Teddy Roosevelt re-election campaign watch fob. Had to Google it to make a positive ID. Amazing to find that in the middle of the woods! Very weird to find these two relics in the same area. That's what makes metal detecting so much fun. You never know what's going to pop out of the ground!

The watch fob is a nice surprise
Nice hunt

Thanks guys! I looked everywhere for the chain and pocket watch that went with the fob, but no luck. I'll try again when it gets warmer. I'd kill for a nice pocket watch find!
