1700's Complete Knee Buckle, Pewter Button & A Couple Whats It's

Hi All, these are from my last hunt. No coins were found, but a really nice 1700's complete knee buckle was found. Also another iron buckle frame and the pewter button too. I did find the two what's it finds also. I put them in the same picture together if anyone has any idea what they might be it would be cool to hear. I will post them in the What's It forum if no one knows here. Overall it was a good hunt. Thanks for looking.

Great finds. Awesome knee buckle. I found a few of them and only one complete.

Sweet knee buckle, it's really cool HH.

Great finds. Love the knee buckle.:icon_thumleft:

3.gif NICE BUCKLE!!!

looks like some real potential there...keep at it

nice buckle !
I'm still wanting a complete one too.

Bubba,
Not sure about the two oddball items, but I am sure that's a fantastic looking old knee buckle. BEAUTY! :occasion14:
Congrats,

I think your whatzit find with the engraving is most certainly a book clasp.

I think you have a small shoe buckle rather than a very large knee buckle.

The other item is a book clasp & I'm pretty sure this type started in the tudor & ended in the 17th C.

Great finds. Crusader's observations make a lot of sense... a book clasp like that could easily be from the 1600's and would already have been 100+ years old or more (family Bible, quite possibly). It's easy to see how it could have broken by that time and been lost or discarded.

That buckle is really nice.

Thanks Crusader on the information about the book clasp. I knew with all the marks on it someday would know what it is. It is real cool that it is at least from the 1600's or earlier

Sweet buckle Bubba...I like that book clasp too... Im no expert but I think that is a knee buckle going by the size and anchor style chape...One of my favorite things to find complete...Congrats

Awesome buckle ya got there! The one whatsit item kind of looks like a broken base to an old soldier figurine. If its lead, that could be what it is..Sweet finds tho, good work!

My only book clasp was an early 1700s style one dug at a mid 1800s site. Books were treasured possessions, and they lasted a long time! That's a great find, IMO. Great to get an item from the 1500s or 1600s over here, regardless of what it is!

Cheers,

Buck
