1700s button or a weight????

1700's button or a weight?

I dug this today at a colonial site. My first feeling was a button , but then I saw a pic of a 1700's wooden steelyard weight. What do Ya think? Actually the site area dates back to 1630

Looks like a shoe button - if so then later than colonial.

Yeah that looks like a fairly early button.

You kidding me, this is the oldest US found button I have seen posted. Its British Tudor period & dates to 1500-1600! Sleave button.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Haven't been on in awhile. Think u may be correct crusader. Checked out a couple photos of Tudor sleeve buttons
