Here are some finds for today. These were found in the wagon roads between the settlement and the river. I am hoping someone can put an approx. date on the Bridle, Axe Head and Hoe. No coins today but the main settlement awaits my thorough search in a couple of weeks. Any help on anything you see would be appreciated. The old shotgun shells were all found on top of a large rock laden hill between the boulders in sediment.. Obviously the plastic shells are recent.

Wow stunning! Usually all the iron I pull out looking for coins is garbage. I'll dig that iron any day.

Can't help with the age on the hoe or the axe, but I will say that you had an impressive hunt.
Congrats on your finds

Nice hunt RF! Alot of personality in those finds, sorry no help on the iron...but they sure are preserved! The bent over nail (spike?) in the wood is awesome...ddf

That looks like you had a fun hunt.
Lots of interesting stuff.

I looked at that photo again and actually that is a rock. I just laid the nail on the rockfor the photo. I found it about 8 inches down right against that rock. Thanks for the comments.

Looks like horse bridal kind of stuff!!!!!!!

Excellent relic hunt, love the old farm tools! :occasion14:

Nice finds, what kind of snake is that?

Looks like a nice little garter snake.

Good finds. I think they will lead to better stuff in the area. Keep digging.

My opinion is the iron is all looks 19th century. The bridle I can't help with. Keep at it. The coins are hidden amongst that iron!

I agree with Engineer in MD, I believe it is a young Garter Snake. He was very friendly and wasn't trying too hard to get away.

Nice finds RF!

Your snake is a Brown Snake (Storeria dekayi). Here is a pic of the one I saw on my site a week ago. First snake of 2017!

Best of luck to you sir!
