Anyone ever found something like this? It was found at a 1700s house it's metal about an inch to inch 1/2 long I assume its colonial because of scallop design any clues will be appreciate as to what it may have been for image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Horse brass? Looks like it had iron pins on the backside.

A friend of mine said maybe a handle to a mug it has a curve to it but I'm not sure what it is and don't know why it has such distinct cuts/grooves

Maybe its a scallop hat badge for the pilgrimage of St James (El Camino de Santiago) It looks really old 17th or 18th century.

Welp... first cursory searches did not yield a "key" to what this may be...
BUT...
I have an opinion...
It has been destroyed OR has been altered / damaged...
I think it was originally "rounded" or round.
Sides have been "cut" imo .. but ?

I'm going with bridal rosette, or what's left of one. Probably mid-to-late 1700s too.
