dont know, but i wish it were mine! lol....have you taken a piece of paper and layed it over the coin an then tried to rub a pen over it to get a better detail of the writing? Really cool birdman! I'd take it to a coin dealer if i were you. Let us know if you find out more about it!

I would use tinfoil and i pencil eraser and rube it.

DCMatt You rock! I figured it was in to bad of shape for an ID but someone on TNet always seems to come through. ;D I thank France occupied that part of Germany from time to time so that would make sense. Thanks much for the ID. Very cool. :)

Your coin was minted during the reign of King Louis XIV. Famous guy for many reasons. Not surprising that these type coins made it into Germany.
