At The same estate sale as the platinum necklace, I spied these serving trays. They were marked "Silver". I asked the estate sale operator and he said he "thought" they were plated. He then added that the owners were Indian and that these were wedding presents. I immediately recognized that India did not adopt a silver marking policy until 2005 and that in Indian culture you give dowry gifts of gold and silver. Everything looked right so I took a chance. My acid is too old but it passed. It also passed the ice test. I'm getting a second opinion but am quite confident it is at least .800 silver. I even dug down with a blade on one of the legs and nothing but silver. Paid $111 for all of these. At worst they are great serving trays I can resell. Best $3300 in silver. What do you all think of the marks? FYI ...each pieces weighed 3LBS, 2.5LBS or 1.75LBS. I thought that was unusual too. Almost like they were sold for weight.
