I agree.
I can't believe the authorities let the man keep it.

Its funny the woman who jilted him hasnt come forward? Every relative of someone who got jilted should be making contact with "Mr Jilted" and make sure they are ok.

But if It was placed in someones car ,possession in 9/10ths of the law..................sell it quick and Merry Merry Christmas ! ;D

it sounds like an older person and the wife died or left and he just wanted to move on.

Best of luck to him for doing so. (( i leave my car unlocked ..i could use the earings that go with it .)). HeHe ..

Here in the South we would say of the person who left the ring - "Bless his heart".

I agree with Axgar, this sounds like something an older person might do after loosing a loved one.

Regardless, this sounds like a story with a lot of hurt.

Bless his heart.

What a sad and happy story that is at the same time. Tragedy for one person, good fortune for another. The authorities should let the man keep it, after all, it was given to him. Unless they can prove it was stolen, it should belong to the car owner. As for the giver, I hope he's okay, and that his generosity is rewarded tenfold in the form of a new love.

Strange, perhaps it was a younger person who's wife passed unexpectingly. Dire circumstances tends to breed dire actions.

Just a thought.

This was the topic last night at the local hangout...

The police told the man that the note says it's a gift so it's rightfully his, but I believe he turned it in and if no one claims it in a year will give it to his wife....

So the person who left it for him will get their Christmas wish... Bless his broken heart! :-*

Yes something just doesn't add up. Just hope who ever did this doesn't bite the bullet. If I leave my vehicle unlocked I probably would get all my stuff stolen. Just my luck.

Back in ancient times when you didn't have to lock your chariot, I found an overcoat and a six pack of beer in my back seat! Being 16 yoa and not able to drink legally, I thought it was a gift from the god Baccus! Before I could celebrate my Dad saw it and it immediately became his good fortune instead of mine! Parents are like that! Monty

LOL ...I never lock my car ...ever ...kinda always wished someone would take it..LOL
But I did come out of the grocery store once and there was a little old lady sitting in the passenger side with a pie on her lap....She hollered at me good and long until I finally went back into the store and had them announce over the loud speaker that someones granny was in the wrong car...finally a lady came out and retrieved her mother from my car...took some doing too...as the granny kept insisting to the daughter that I was trying to steal her car ::) ...........Attention ..Piggly Wiggly shoppers ...would the owner of about a 1909 blue haired granny....

Monty, Being that the monks were the only people brewing beer back then, why didn't you just take it back to them?? :-\

Lol, Just joking. I couldn't resist. ;D
Merry christmas to you
