I would agree with Montana Jim and write the folks at the modern day equivelent, something like that is going to be exceedingly rare i would think to any WWI collector not to mention racing pigeon buffs.
Would i be right in thinking these racing pigeons were used for messaging during WWI?

I would research your uncle and his father or maybe even grandfather. If you can document who it belonged to and the circumstances it might increase its value significantly.

I could be wrong, but...
WWI was called "The Great War" until WWII ???

No..your quite correct i think , however the pin doesnt actually say WW1 , it just says World war and has the dates.Good point though.

Thought I would search the newspapers to see if I could find any articles on this during the World War (dates 1914-1919) and this is one that I found.

Found lots of articles about the homing pigeons, dating back to I believe, was 1910. And it was homebased in Washington.

Just thought I'd share...nice find!!!

Hello!
I realize this thread ended years ago, but I have some incredible information about this pin! I have found another just like it within a beautiful collection of WWI mementos. Does anyone know if Ron is still active on this site? Do you have any contact information to reach him?

Thank you,
pitterpatter
