I bought some rocks (from Colombia) in the rough form that came from an emerald mine. There was a hint of green showing and I just keep chipping away at it until exposed. Not sure what its worth.

I just cut it out of its matrix and touched it up on a 600 grit wheel

The matrix is the rock the emerald came from.

that sort of very green but very occluded emerald would be used in cabbing and make a very nice men's ring (think jade)...the value is not like more clear gem stones.
