hey, im back. I picked up a used 1266x and tried it out today. WOW, what a difference over the ace 250!!! Went to an old house from late 1700's that i went over before. I found a few wheat pennies, what looks to be a hammered button with sun beams on it. A brass door plate, and the DEEP makeup case. Im not sure if its brass or gold, but when i wiped some of the dirt off of it, It really shined in the sunlight. I was so excited!!! Thanks for looking. Greg

Cool stuff you found. As far as the makeup case ,I would be inclined to think it's not gold.
Plated maybe,Just guessing tho but still pretty cool

that green on the top makes me think it's not soild gold but probly plated... the green probly coming from the base metal which probly is copper

That 1266x is as good today as it was 15yrs. ago.
Good going.

Thanks guys, i think it is just plated, but still its really nice to find stuff over 4 inches!!! lol The 1266x is really simple to use, but a sob to get ahold of.

Could your makeup case be a cigarette case?

You actually found an old cigarette case. That little gold piece inside used to be attached to a spring and it would hold the cigarettes in place. Back then they did not have filters so they were smaller in size. Excellent find!!!!!!!!

Nice find not many of those around looks like a lady's cigarette case Good hunt  Dd60

nice finds!!!! ;D MR TUFF

Great stuff--and Congratulations on your 1266-X purchase. Those machines are Tops, which is why I still hunt with one. If you need any tips or pointers on getting the most out of that model, here is a great thread many of us worked on. It has the most information on it of any web page currently on the internet.
