Get thee to the theatre and see it. If you didn't know, this is a true story about a man named Solomon Northup, a free black man who lived in New York and was kidnapped and then enslaved for twelve years. Very well done movie,hard to watch at times,beautiful photography, though definitely a movie to make you cringe at the behavior of human beings and the lack of compassion for suffering at the mercy of another.

Another great movie is Blood Diamond. It shows the truth about how people in that part of the world live their everyday lives, and how horrendously they treat each other.

There is an enormous amount of suffering so that people can wear pretty diamonds.

I lived in that part of the world and I can say that it is a stunningly factual representation of how humans treat each other for shiny baubles.
