Our small city of 10,000 has a yearly family festival at the park. There is a volleyball court there and every year they throw in Dollar coins, quarters, and dimes in the sand. First they let the younger kids look, and go in age groups up from there. As soon as the festivities ended for the day I headed straight over. This is the result of 70 minutes in the sand. There are 5 one dollar coins, including 2 of the new washington dollars. I only started metal detecting again 2 months ago after becoming disabled and no longer able to work. The exercise and diversion I get from metal detecting while I deal with severe pain are PRICELESS. In the past I have dug over 20,000 coins, so I am not a rookie, It is good to be back.

Easy prey you had and nice finds, LOL! It really is amazing how detecting can relax a person. The finds are just one of the reasons I detect, too many others to list and I will detect in any climate. I hope detecting helps you out, it is also a great form of therapy. Look forward to more of your posts and HH, Mike

Great going...geeezz..I can't even do that well after hunting 5 hours....Hadn't had a 100 coin day yet. Keep up the good work and HH

Excellent diggins. Nice large pile of coin bud....

Keep safe...

Nice haul, I am sure you got plenty of excersize in the 70 minutes by the looks.

Utah hunter you sound like me. I'm also disabled and used to hunt way back in the 70s and 80s and have found thousands of coins and relics. I just got back into it this summer for the exercise as you did. I bought a Whites MXT and am having a ball. I had to go into the hospital for some coronary artery work this past week so it will be a month or so before I'm back out metal detecting but am looking forward to it. Good luck!!

Looks like a fun 70 minutes!! Congrats on a great coin/totals day!!

Detecting is great therapy. That a super nice haul you got there. Sometimes you just have to be at the right place and at the right time. When I was younger, the man who owned the bank would hide silver dollars in this small park for the kids to find on Easter. All were either accounted for or found over the years. Way to go on those great finds!

Nice finds! I'm also on the disabled list. I've had 6 back operations in the past 5 years, 2 disc fusions, out of work on total permanant disability. My doc. said I need to excercise so detecting is one way I get it. I try to get out with the detector ALOT as I'm afraid if I just sit around and do nothing I'll stiffen up. I am in some pain sometimes but the vicodins take care of it (usually)

Nice work! You almost filled the gas tank there. I understand about the disability I've retired disability as well. I never could just walk the few miles the doc suggested and also used to detect about 25 to 30 years ago. (Can't believe it's been that long!) Anyway, put a detector in my hand and I'll walk all day if the heat isn't real bad. Pretty good move cleaning out the sand pit after all the young ones had their shot at treasure hunting. Opportunity is always knocking if your not hard of hearing. Nice hoard of coins there. Glad to hear your able to get out and about some to enjoy the detecting hobby.

I have had back surgery and many back problems. Morphine and fentanyl have no affect on me whatsoever. I am going to another specialist to see about getting some nerves "frozen" or implants that inject medication directly into my spine. Exercise is the only thing that helps and keeps me from getting worse. I metal detect right and left handed to evenly stretch and strengthen between my shoulder blades, which is where my problems originate. Metal detecting in the last few months did more for me than physical therapy and steroid shots ever did!
