Iberian slingers had a reputation for excellent shooters and relayed his fame borders and became a legend.

It is said that the missiles hurled with such force and accuracy that crossed the helmets and shields of their enemies. The stone thrown by them had more range than the arrows of the archers.

The Carthaginians enlisted as mercenaries in their ranks Iberian slingers in the first two Punic Wars. Also lent their services to the Roman troops.
His job was to open lines and make way for the heavy infantry.

lived in settlements in closed places from a watchtower guarding the area.

They had three slings of different size and bag around his neck where they kept the lead bullets with almond shaped.

The projectile is placed in a small container (usually in a pouch located in the center longitudinal) then bring the two ends of the rope with your right hand grabbing, grabbing the bag with the bullet in his left hand and kept up Eye sling extends pointing towards the target in order to focus its direction, then the right hand the projectile rapid rotation above the head (usually there are three turns) and released one of the two ends of the sling so as to miss the bullet, which leaves driven by centrifugal force.
Greetings !

I used the sling as a kid with simple stones and can imagine what a lead projectile would do. I could sling a stone futher with the sling than my long bow could shoot an arrow.

As always, great finds HISPAN. :)

Hello :hello:

This is what the Romans found when they arrived in Spain in 218 BC ... Lead bullets were throwing at the head .... but not all, the Iberians were a group of tribes and one of them the "Untikesken" were allies of the Romans.
They differ from the musket balls the Iberians bullets that are larger, almond shaped and have registered letters Iberian alphabet .
