We hunted two different properties yesterday, both had real potential, but neither turned up the volume of finds that I hoped for. First property, which dated to early 1800's, gave up two mercury dimes to my friend, and one cool grocery token for myself. Next property looked like a bust, but after changing to relic program on my MX Sport, sniffed out a couple of deep IH's. The 1906 is in very good condition!! Ed, My hunting buddy, retrieved an 1881, and I found an 1883 a few feet away!! I also dug up this chinese coin. Not sure if is a fake or not, but it did pass one of the indicators that I found in research. It is also correct diameter and weight for a Boo Ciowan minted coin for the 1796-1820 time period. The property where this, and the IH pennies were found, was used as an antique store for many years before the house was burnt down in late 70's.

Nice token - not listed on tokencatalog.com or in Vacketta's IL Book. Glen J. Mangum (1892-1963) was a grocer and baker in Cobden ca. 1920-29. He moved to Carbondale about 1929 and ran the Southern Barbeque there into the 1960s. Please list it on tokencatalog.com, or with permission to use your pics and the size of the token, I could list it for you.

Idahotokens, feel free to add it to their data base!! I am waiting for Union County Historical Museum to get back with me regarding the history behind token. I believe I will then send it to them for their museum. It belongs there, not in my safe!!

Will do. What does it measure "across the flats"?
