We got a little bit more rain on Weds night and into Thursday morning so I decided to try the field where I found the Celt again. I stayed up on the high ridge which is where usually mostly Archaic pieces are found and I found 2 pretty decent pieces, a nice Archaic Corner Notch Point and a really nice Hafted Scraper. Both are made from some colorful Carter Cave Flint.

I also ran into two guys as they were leaving and one of them had found a pretty nice little Celt about 3 inches long. He let me take a picture of it and I will include it in the pics.

Here's some in situs and cleaned up pics of the days finds. I also found a few decent Scrapers and a base off of a black Point.

Good looking finds there Steve. Nice point and scraper there, love that Carter Cave. Pretty nice little celt your competition found.

Very nice carter cave material on that point. Beautiful stuff. Do you get a lot of competition on that field?

Thanks guys.

TN, I have seen as many as 17 people in there on one hunt and as many as 10 or 12 at the same time. This site has a large Ft Ancient village site out close to the Ohio River, a Hopewell site within 100 yards of it, and Adena site located in one corner, and a huge ridge that runs the entire length on the second terrace back from the river that is predominately Archaic. Once it gets plowed and word gets out if you aren't the first one in after a rain it will look like a parade went through by the time you arrive.

Here's a couple pictures of the site. The first picture is looking at the Ft Ancient village right next to the river and the second picture is the long ridge where the Archaic is mostly found.
