Nice Stick Pin mjm579. If no one can help ya - you might consider taking it up to a jewelry store and see what they say.

I'm guessing late Victorian or Art Nouveau. But I'm wrong a lot. :laughing7:

Thanks everyone for the information. I was thinking late Victorian myself, but I know very little about vintage jewelry.

Looks kinda modern to me, otherwise I'd guess late Victorian maybe... I'm often wrong too, so....
Awesome find though !!
Keep @ it and HH !!

A friend of mine thought the same thing until she saw it in person. She mentioned that it looked much "larger" in the photo than in person. It is a petite piece if that helps at all. I will try to get another pic with something else as a size reference.

It looks Art Deco to me with a hint of Egyptian Revival. Just a gut feeling. The stone is hard to tell from a photo. It could be many things or just glass. I would take it to my local jeweler.

The one place I took it to on Saturday said aquamarine. Not sure if it is that or blue topaz. There is a numismatic (I think that is what they call him) in my area. He runs the most amazing pawn shop I've ever seen. They have more gems and stones in that place than any jewelry store.

Its a real beautiful piece !! The cover on the Pin seems to maybe have some age, not sure when the design/cut of the stone is from. Finding that out will maybe shed some light on the age ?
Again, awesome find !!

Thanks. It was funny that it was in a box with a bunch of other trinket type items at this shop (not really on display like the much larger shell cameos). It immediately caught my eye. Likely bc I knew it would be closer to my price range.

I see a REAL obsession beginning.

Since this may become a new obsession of mine, can anyone recommend a good cameo reference book? I could also use any reputable websites. But, call me old fashioned, I definitely want to invest in a good book on this subject.

Thx.

Might help if I asked this question in the right thread....maybe I need some rest ;)
