10000th & Something Post...

I've been detecting for over twenty years & my wish list has varied as I have ticked off some 'impossibles', or thats what I thought. Last years I got my first Celtic Gold Coin closely followed by Dads first, however this year I've had a further 2 & Dad another 1 :o

However, this one was the highlight of the year. It was on my wish list no.3 & whenever you tick off a rare find like this, it tends to be in poor condition. But I struck lucky with this one and got a cracking, almost 'as struck' condition coin in the middle of a Roman Site :icon_scratch: Not much other evidence of Saxon other than a Strapend on the same day.
How this came out like this in heavily ploughed fields I will never understand 8)

Anon. (they have no idea on ruler)
AD710-750
Series J, Saxon early Penny (Sceat)

See the day I found it with other items:

This is completely humbling. I might as well take my large cents, whistle "fairwell" and drop them into a river.

Crazy b a s t a r d. :o

I know, thankfully the doctors haven't found my hidding hole, a small room surrounded with junk metal & internet access. I'm nearly on here as much as I detect!

I love looking at your finds. My wife loves looking at your finds. The problem now is my wife likes you better.

"When you gonna find Sh%$ like his, Already!?

For instance;..Yesterday I find a double keyhole lock. I thought it was an interesting find. These were used for boxes of personal treasure around here, so the husband and wife would have to open it together, and no one could open the box with just one key.

"What? No coins! The guy in England would have found a few gold coins. You come home with only the friggin' lock!"
