Not many options left this time of year. We have an opportunity on a grass field that was sprayed off because of Black Grass & just been re-drilled with more grass. Its the field we found the Roman Gold in but at the opposite end which we haven't covered.
We spent 4.5 hours gridding & the ground is starting to dry out. It will soon be too hard to dig, so it might be our last outing on this permission, but not sure yet....

1 Scrappy
17th C Button
x2 Pewter/Lead IV Queens Own Dragoon enlisted Buttons. Not sure on the date of these, I thought early 1800s but can't find a match.
George II London Trade Weight - 8oz, My biggest example!
Lead Shy-Cock Token it grow out of a Medieval game where they tied up a Cockerel to a wooden stake & stoned it to death with either stones or lead projectiles. By the 17th-18th C they began to believe this to be a little cruel, so made a game instead using these Lead Tokens, see more:
Our Hammered Streak ended but we kept the Silver Streak a live by the skin of my teeth; with a near blank Silver Shilling.

Boy, that stone the cockerel game sounds different. I believe it was also played with women who committed adultery. I’m not trying to be smug, it’s just amazing to me how cockerels are now better protected, depending as to where one lives. Congrats on the finds. Looks to be a very nice outing. Thank you👍🏼

That is some fine tuned satire 👆🏻

Hopefully you guys will be able to get another go at or find another permission this late in the year. Cool stuff!

Kind offer, thanks, but we are rarely short of land, just short of better options.
Crossing off lesser options is just part of our process.
